Fabrication Technician

Location: Sugar Land, TX

Shift: 2nd Shift

Pay: $25/hr

Type: Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview A Sugar Land manufacturer is hiring a skilled Fabrication Technician to join their metal fab team. You'll fabricate and assemble metal components, working closely with engineering to deliver high-quality products built to precise client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications (understanding tolerances a plus)
• Operate metal fabrication equipment including press brakes (CNC experience preferred), welding equipment, and other shop tools
• Fabricate and assemble metal components into finished products, ensuring structural integrity and quality
• Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and protractors
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot fabrication issues and improve processes
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in metal fabrication is a plus
• Minimum 2 years of metal fabrication experience, preferably in manufacturing
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Proficiency with metal fab machinery and hand tools
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Forklift experience (2+ years preferred)

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Repetitive motions including grinding, lifting, and bending
• Work in a noisy and dusty shop environment

Preferred Skills

• Polishing or finishing techniques
• Welding and fabrication process knowledge
• Forklift certification
