CHL Systems is hiring a Fabrication Technician II/III to support the fabrication of metal components used in custom automation and material handling systems. This is a hands-on manufacturing role for an experienced fabricator who can read engineering drawings, operate fabrication equipment, perform precision measurements, and produce quality parts with limited supervision.

This role is best suited for someone who already brings solid fabrication experience and can step in with a high level of ownership, consistency, accuracy, and safe work habits. Candidates should be comfortable working across a range of fabrication processes in a custom manufacturing environment.

Why Join CHL Systems?
  • Competitive compensation with growth opportunities
  • Weekly pay
  • Medical, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k) with company match
  • Stable, family-owned manufacturing company with 65+ years in business
  • Safety-focused, team-oriented shop environment
  • Opportunity to contribute meaningful hands-on work in a growing fabrication department
What You’ll Do
  • Perform cutting, forming, bump forming, layout, and other fabrication operations with limited supervision
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as shears, saws, punches, ironworkers, rollers, and related shop equipment
  • Operate laser cutting equipment with guidance as needed based on experience level
  • Support press brake operation and setup based on background and department needs
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, shop orders, dimensions, and work instructions
  • Select appropriate materials, dies, tooling, and fabrication methods based on job requirements
  • Inspect parts using calipers, protractors, and other measuring tools to verify accuracy and conformance
  • Troubleshoot material, tooling, and equipment issues that affect part quality or production flow
  • Deburr, finish, label, scan, and track parts according to quality and ISO/CHL procedures
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance and promptly report mechanical, tooling, or safety concerns
  • Assist with material handling, receiving, staging, and general shop support as needed
  • Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment when certified and authorized
  • Collaborate with supervisors, fabricators, welders, and other production team members to support workflow and schedules
  • Follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures
What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2–4 years of metal fabrication experience, with stronger consideration given to candidates with broader Level III-type depth
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment such as shears, saws, rollers, punches, ironworkers, lasers, or related shop equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, shop orders, dimensions, and work instructions
  • Ability to inspect parts and work accurately to tolerances using precision measurement tools
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards
  • Strong problem-solving ability when working through tooling, setup, or material-related issues
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with press brake operation or setup
  • Experience with complex forming, multi-step fabrication, and tighter-tolerance work
  • Strong shop math skills, including angles, bend deductions, forming calculations, and basic geometry
  • Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, protractors, and other inspection devices
  • Understanding of material properties, grain direction, tolerances, and formed metal components
  • Experience helping train or support less experienced technicians in a shop environment
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience, or willingness to become certified as needed
This Could Be a Great Fit If You
  • Take pride in accurate, high-quality fabrication work
  • Have real hands-on experience with fabrication equipment and custom metal part production
  • Are comfortable reading drawings, selecting tooling, checking your work, and making adjustments when needed
  • Can work independently and keep production moving with limited supervision
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, fabricators, welders, and other shop team members
  • Stay focused on safety, quality, and doing the job right the first time
  • Enjoy solving practical shop-floor problems involving parts, materials, tooling, or machines
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This is an on-site role in a manufacturing/shop environment
  • Work is performed around fabrication equipment, machinery, moving mechanical parts, and active production areas
  • Regular standing, walking, reaching, handling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and movement throughout the workday is required
  • Exposure to loud noise, airborne particles, fumes, vibration, and typical shop conditions may occur
  • PPE must be worn in designated areas, and safety procedures must be followed
  • Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Work may involve forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, and other shop or material handling equipment
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on production schedules
