Description
OverviewHolland Applied Technologies, located in Burr Ridge, IL, is a leader in the sanitary process/equipment industry. We fabricate and distribute sanitary equipment and systems for the food, pharmaceutical, personal care, and beverage industries.The Fabrications Estimating & Design Engineer will develop detailed shop drawings, create bill of material and job routing, gather and analyze financial data to estimate and allocate costs for a current or proposed product or project. And support the production teams by assisting with material readiness and schedule tracking.Responsibilities
Reviews and understands scope from RFQ opportunities provided by sales team
Estimates material and labor costs for fabricated components
Develops detailed proposals for sales engineers
Creates bill of material and job routing
Develops cost-effective, high-quality designs, concept drawings, and detailed shop drawings for fabrication
Works with the shop to understand best manufacturing practices to ensure "design for manufacturability"
Obtains quotations and issues purchase orders for parts and services.
Leads cross-functional review of RFQ package with sales, shop, and procurement to ensure all understand scope of work during kick-off meetings on larger projects
Effectively communicates design ideas to sales group and customers and serves as liaison between shop and sales group
Stage material and confirm BOM and job material are accurate on larger job orders.
Manages multiple quotes and projects simultaneously.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering; may consider experience in lieu of degree
3-5 years experience minimum
Basic understanding of job costing principles
Proficient in 3D AutoCAD
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create forecasts based on financial data
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
General understanding of the manufacturing processes stainless steel welding / manufacturing preferred
Experience within the stainless-steel fabrication and sanitary process piping industry preferred

Will require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
