Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Shop/Field Fabricator to join our dynamic team. This full-time position requires a versatile professional who can seamlessly transition between shop-based fabrication work and on-site field installations. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive welding expertise across multiple processes, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, combined with 5-10 years of hands-on experience in metal fabrication and structural assembly.

As a Shop/Field Fabricator, you will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, fabricating custom metal components, performing precision welding operations, and ensuring all work meets stringent quality and safety standards. This role demands exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team in both controlled shop environments and challenging field conditions.

Primary Responsibilities

Shop Fabrication Duties:

  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications to fabricate metal components and assemblies with precision
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding operations on various materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys
  • Operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, band saws, press brakes, shears, grinders, and drilling machines
  • Measure, cut, bend, shape, and assemble metal components according to specifications using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Conduct quality inspections of completed welds and fabrications to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery in proper working condition through regular maintenance and calibration
  • Prepare materials for fabrication by cleaning, grinding, and properly fitting components prior to welding
  • Document work completed, materials used, and time spent on projects for accurate record-keeping

Field Installation Duties:

  • Travel to job sites to perform on-site fabrication, welding, repairs, and installation of structural components
  • Assess field conditions and adapt fabrication approaches to accommodate
