Fabrication Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fabrication Machine Operator to join a growing manufacturing team in Omaha, Nebraska. In this role, you will operate and maintain a variety of fabrication equipment used to produce high-quality metal components while supporting a safe, efficient, and team-focused production environment.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with fabrication or machine operation experience who enjoy hands-on work, precision manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

What You'll Do

As a Fabrication Machine Operator, you will:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate fabrication machinery to produce components according to specifications and work orders
  • Operate equipment such as CNC laser cutters, CNC waterjets, press brakes, rollers, punch presses, drills, grinders, saws, shears, and related fabrication equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production documents
  • Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, gauges, rulers, and squares
  • Accurately record production data, labor time, and inventory transactions
  • Utilize ERP and manufacturing systems to review production orders and material requirements
  • Monitor product quality and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and support lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Assist with additional fabrication and production-related tasks as needed

 

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 1 to 2+ years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or machine operation
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Basic math skills including measurements, conversions, and geometry calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 

Preferred

  • Experience operating CNC fabrication equipment
  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing software systems
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
  • Experience in a custom fabrication or job-shop environment

  • Ability to identify and resolve production issues efficiently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and material handling
  • Ability to lift and move moderately heavy materials throughout the shift
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and precision measurements
  • Comfortable working around fabrication equipment and moving machinery

 

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and fabrication facility
  • Exposure to machinery, metal materials, dust, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
