The Facilitator Guidance Classroom T1 to provide supplemental educational support and behavior interventions, through the use of instructional or character development curricula to students exhibiting behavioral problems.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Guidance

  • Assist in planning/implementing the academic and behavior management programs for students
  • Prepare weekly lessons, resources and instructional materials for students
  • Assist students in carrying out all activities as described in the classroom teacher's lesson plans
  • Deliver character education lessons daily
  • Provide ongoing communication with parents of students in the guidance classroom

Interventions

  • Implement prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior supports that are supplemental to the regular classroom
  • Maintain safety of students and act as a positive role model
  • De-escalate students and use behavioral intervention strategies
  • Utilize a general understanding of Restorative Discipline Practices
  • Stay abreast of research based best practices and strategies by attending professional development trainings as required by the campus principal

Data Reporting

  • Collect data, and maintain student records and charts for determining student progress in collaboration with campus Counselors, Administrators, Social Workers and Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSP)
  • Compile and share data in support of developing behavior intervention plans as a member of the campus RtI team

  • Bachelor''s degree
  • Texas School Counselor Certification or Eligible for Texas Certification preferred
  • LCSW under Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners preferred
  • Valid Texas Mid-Management Certification or Eligible for Texas Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years Working with children with challenging behaviors
  • Assist with campus investigations as deemed by campus principles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of behavior intervention strategies
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to compose correspondence, reports and/or other required written materials
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
