5. Aptitude with set-up, repair and ongoing maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment

An Equipment Maintenance Technician must possess and be able to apply electrical and mechanical knowledge, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures in our R&D and manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions – The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician will be responsible for executing tasks defined by management.
Such tasks may include:
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
• Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments
• Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines
• Ensure optimal functioning of processes and equipment
• Perform new machine installations as required
• Perform and document regular equipment maintenance

Education:  Bachelor or Associate degree in engineering or other science/technology field is desired.  High school diploma with relevant experience may be considered.

Experience:  At least 5 years of experience and proven ability in safely performing electrical and mechanical repairs and/or installations of various types of equipment and machinery is required.  Familiarity with vacuum pumps and high temperature furnaces and hot presses for ceramic processing is highly desired.

Knowledge:  Well-balanced technical background is desired.  Detailed knowledge of a wide variety of equipment and machining processes is desired.

Essential Physical Requirements:  Ability to safely operate high temperature equipment.  Some heavy lifting required.

Special Requirements:  US citizenship is required.
