Facilities AssistantHumane Society for Hamilton County 

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Pay Range: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour 

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We are seeking a dependable, hard-working, and team-oriented Facilities Assistant to help keep our facility clean, safe, organized, and welcoming for the animals in our care and the people who walk through our doors each day. About the Role The Facilities Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing routine cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance tasks throughout the facility. This role supports daily building operations, assists with special cleaning projects, and helps ensure the health and safety of staff, visitors, volunteers, and animals.

Key Responsibilities

Clean and maintain interior and exterior areas of the facility to established standards

Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and sanitize floors using appropriate equipment and supplies

Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recyclables

Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms in accordance with approved procedures

Dust, clean, and polish furniture, fixtures, walls, windows, mirrors, and partitions

Use cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment safely and according to instructions

Perform heavy or deep cleaning duties on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule

Assist with routine maintenance tasks as assigned

Communicate building or maintenance issues promptly to the Facilities Manager

Work outdoors as needed, including debris or snow removal in various weather conditions

Assist in organizing and maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment

Provide basic direction and support to volunteers assisting with cleaning tasks

Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with staff, volunteers, and visitors

Follow all safety policies and procedures

Perform other duties as assigned 

What We’re Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience preferred, but not required

Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Good time management and organizational skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Effective communication skills

Ability to adapt to changes and respond to unexpected needs

Self-starter with initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

Work Environment This role works in a dynamic environment that requires multitasking and balancing several projects at once. The position involves working around animal sounds, scents, and allergens and may include both indoor and outdoor work in changing conditions.
