About the Role:

The Principle Specialist is responsible for maintaining and overseeing facilities operations in support of a manufacturing site in Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD Operations. This includes day to day operations, support of workplace strategies, project alignment and operations & maintenance.

The position is also responsible for ensuring a safe, flexible, efficient, and clean workplace. A critical job responsibility of the facilities operations specialist is to support the execution of day-to-day operations, and ensure the needs of the customer are met and completed on time, enabling the client and program success. The position is responsible for communicating, scheduling and managing suppliers in support of maintenance & operations, internal customer relationships, site meeting support and setup, and driving customer satisfaction. This position requires significant interactions with the local business leadership, and other client functional organizations including IT, Security, Environmental Health and Safety, internal customers, suppliers, and government compliance officials.

This is a fully onsite part-time role Monday-Friday in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD with commuting to the client's Columbia, MD site once a week to a couple times a month.

What You'll Do:

  • Update CMMS system daily, weekly and monthly with maintenance repairs actions and required notes to properly closeout tickets and manage request required for monthly audit.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation Walk inspections to ensure cleanliness of common areas such as lab areas, restrooms, break rooms, lobbies, workstation areas.
  • Facility Setup and Organization Support room setups to include furniture moves in conference room setup and rearrangement to support meetings, events and small office reconfiguration.
  • Move furniture and inventory as needed, engage vendor for large move items.
  • Office/cube setup for new hires and office move as required.
  • Ability to move lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Safety and Security Monitor safety hazards and report issues promptly.
  • Participate in emergency response programs like AED and first aid.
  • Vendor Coordination
  • Liaise with external service providers (i.e. cleaners, electricians, HVAC techs).
  • Inventory and Supplies Track and replenish facility supplies such as cleaning products, light bulbs, and tools.
  • Oversee outsourced maintenance and repair services.
  • Inventory and Supplies Track, order, restock facility supplies such as cleaning products, light bulbs, tools, whiteboards, etc.
  • Order parts for office repairs and complete some minor office repairs.
  • Hang office whiteboards, signage items, misc. items as required at the site.
  • Customer Service and Reporting Respond daily to staff and/or customer complaints related to facility issues or concerns.
  • Report emergencies, violations or concerns to management as they may occur at any time.

What You'll Need:

  • High School Diploma or GED with up to 2 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
  • Reliable transportation to commute from Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to Columbia, MD.
