Facilities Maintenance Laborer

Salary: $12.06 - $13.32 per hour

Hours: 20 - 30 per week

The City of Laramie is looking for motivated individuals who can work in a team and alone. Under general supervision, this individual will perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and City facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Sweep, scrub, wax floors; vacuum and clean rugs and carpets; empty and clean waste receptacles.
• Wash and dust windows, walls, and blinds.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs.
• Clean restrooms, toilets, sinks, and hard surfaces. Stock toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, hand sanitizers and other consumables.
• Unlock and lock entrances to buildings; check buildings for security.
• Inspect buildings for safety, fire, and sanitary hazards.
• Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment; maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
• Perform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks and other equipment; set up rooms for meetings.
• Answer general questions from the public and City staff.
• May assist in training less experienced staff.
• Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying):

• Knowledge and skills of custodial work is desirable.
• Ability to communicate well verbally and work in a dynamic environment.
• Able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. Able to climb and work safely on ladders.
• First aid and CPR certification or the ability to complete training within a designated time line.
