About the Role

The City of Bend is accepting applications for one (1) regular, full-time Facilities Day Custodian in the Facilities Division of the Real Estate, Facilities and Housing Department. This is an hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position represented by the City of Bend Employee Association (COBEA). We're looking for a dependable and service-minded Day Custodian who takes pride in creating clean, welcoming spaces. In this role, you'll play a vital part in maintaining our brand-new Public Works Campus-ensuring facilities are spotless, restrooms are well-stocked, and shared spaces are always inviting. Classification Framework: Custodian

What Youll Do

The following duties are a sample of major duties performed in this role and not intended to be an

exhaustive list.

  • Provide great customer service.
  • Restock restrooms and kitchen.
  • Clean common areas such as Intersection (dining area), restrooms and other common areas.
  • Conference room setup for larger events.
  • Occasionally assist Facilities Technicians with preventative maintenance tasks
  • Maintain and order inventory for night shift janitors.

We are seeking a self-motivated, dependable professional who thrives in an independent work environment. The Day Custodian role requires strong attention to detail, ensuring all spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The ideal candidate communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and takes pride in delivering excellent service to staff, visitors, and the community. Highly qualified applicants will bring prior janitorial or custodial experience, along with familiarity of Microsoft Excel and a strong customer service mindset.

Candidates who meet the listed minimum qualifications, including an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for an interview. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • 1 year experience in a similar position and/or performing similar tasks OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the

essential duties of the job.

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current and valid Drivers license per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ability to obtain CJIS certification within 6 months of employment.

Desired (but not required) Attributes:

  • Basic comprehension of Microsoft Office 365 Suite

Group Long-term Disability Insurance: Benefit-eligible employees working at least 20 hours per week are eligible for a a benefit of up to 66.67% of employee's covered earnings to a maximum of $9,000 per month.
