Facilities Engineer I (Full Time)

Job Title: Facilities Engineer I
Position Summary:
Supports the planning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure, building systems, and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. Assists with facility engineering projects, preventive maintenance programs, equipment installations, space planning, and capital improvement initiatives under the guidance of senior engineering staff. Applies engineering principles and computer-aided design (CAD) software to support facility modifications and construction activities while developing technical expertise in facility operations, project management, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Job Functions
Facility Operations and Maintenance
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, and other building infrastructure.
- Support preventive maintenance programs by tracking schedules, reviewing maintenance records, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in troubleshooting facility systems, conducting root cause analyses, and coordinating repairs with maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Evaluate facility system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
- Work with maintenance personnel and contractors to support routine and emergency repairs.
Facility Engineering & Capital Projects
- Support facility improvement and renovation projects from planning through completion.
- Prepare and revise facility layouts, utility drawings, engineering documentation, and construction packages using CAD software.
- Assist with project planning, cost estimates, scheduling, budgeting, technical specifications, and documentation.
- Participate in site visits and inspections to verify work quality and project progress.
- Support equipment purchases, installations, and startup activities.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with Facilities, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, and external contractors to support operational and project objectives.
- Provide technical support and engineering recommendations for facility-related issues and infrastructure improvements.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical presentations, project status updates, and supporting documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, construction, manufacturing, or related environments.
- Basic knowledge of building systems, engineering principles, and facility infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, and specifications.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and climb as required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work in both office and industrial environments.
- May be exposed to noise, temperature variations, dust, chemicals, moving equipment, and other manufacturing conditions.
- Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
Mental Demands
- Apply engineering principles to analyze facility systems, equipment, and operational issues.
- Exercise analytical thinking and sound judgment to identify solutions and support engineering decisions.
- Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

- Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.
- Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
