About the Role:

A CBRE Facilities Engineer serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for facility and utility systems, ensuring operational excellence, GxP compliance, and reliability across all responsible buildings. The role combines technical expertise in facility engineering with an ability to influence the delivery of capital projects. The position requires a proactive, cross-functional approach to optimize operations, support strategic initiatives, and deliver innovative solutions aligned with both client & corporate standards.

This is a fully onsite role Monday- Friday in Durham, NC (Research Triangle Park, NC).

What You'll Do:

Facilities Engineering & Operations Support

  • Act as the SME for facility and utility systems.
  • Monitor, analyze, and resolve infrastructure issues for all building systems.
  • Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies based on reliability principles and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Review system operations to maintain laboratory safety standards (airflow, emergency power, etc.).
  • Coordinate & communicate building system outages for preventative maintenance
  • Scope & support small scale expense projects with LRL scientists as requested
  • Assist maintenance technicians, planners, and supervisors with investigating and completing maintenance work both planned and unplanned

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure timely compliance with GxP standards & associated KPI's
  • Provide oversight ensuring compliance with regulatory, client & corporate standards
  • Create and maintain equipment specific instructions for use with LOTO.
  • Ownership of facility drawings.
  • Complete annual system & asset -review
  • Periodic Process Hazard Reviews

Capital Project Support

  • Complete annual capital needs assessment based on knowledge of building systems
  • Attend capital project meetings related to your buildings and provide technical guidance
  • Participate in feasibility studies, design reviews, and alternative evaluations.
  • Review and approve project documentation, including drawings, SOPs, commissioning/qualification plans, validation deliverables, and automation change controls.
  • Coordinate project site implementation activities (shutdown planning, PSSR/PSERs, punch walks).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (client, operations, projects, safety) to maintain alignment and communication.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (prefer mechanical, electrical, chemical) required.
  • Life Sciences/ Pharmaceutical industry experience highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in Facilities Management or Facilities Projects/ Maintenance preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Model CBRE RISE values and foster a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and provide solution-oriented recommendations.
  • Must have good people skills to interact and communicate effectively to internal and external customers, share knowledge with craftsmen and peers including process, building and design engineers, and scheduler planner.
