As one of the largest softwood pulp producers in the world, this location produces bleached softwood pulp for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products.The Facility Preservation Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to the following elements:Pressure vessels and relief devicesProcess piping – including liquor, water, fire water, air, sewers and underground pipingRoofs – cleaning and maintenance, roof survey, vent fans (not hood exhaust)Building structures, steel, concrete, equipment bases, and paintingElectrical systems (Coordinate with mill Electrical Power Distribution manager)Cranes and hoistsRoads and railsFacility HVACElevatorsInsulation and Asbestos AbatementDikes and LeveesStacks and ChimneysCooling TowersResponsible for recommending, developing and managing facility preservation capital and non‑capital projectsEnsuring facility preservation inspections and audit processes are in place and effectiveActively participate in compliance with Tanks, Unfired Pressure Vessels, Digester, and Cranes inspection and maintenanceManage facility preservation within annual budgetMeet all applicable standards, policy/procedure requirements as outlined by Insurance, Corporate, Audit, and appropriate fire codes.Responsible for development of a facility preservation system including expectations, defining responsibilities, implementation of best practices, and facility inspection routesResponsible for management of mill fire protection systems and emergency response within GCF, Insurance, and applicable Fire codes and policies/procedures.Responsible for obtaining and analyzing NDT data for vessels to determine trends and to recommend courses of actionResponsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive facility preservation plan including 5‑year plan for capital and non‑capital facility preservation improvement projectsResponsible for developing and implementing the mill's Winterization Plan, through the departmental Operations Maintenance Coordinators (OMCs).Assist EHS in the maintenance of the overland flow wastewater treatment plant and solid waste facilities as requested.About You: Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment. Prefer a minimum of five (5) years' experience.Experience with interpreting and applying ASME, API, NBIC and NFPA code is desired.Knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations.Ability to lead in a high-performance team environment and get work done through others. Ability to collaborate with peers and work well work others.Strong computer skills including proficiency with SAP and all Microsoft Office applications.Good decision‑making, judgement and outstanding interpersonal skills are required. This position requires a high degree of organizational skills.Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, functional specifications and engineering drawings.Working knowledge of equipment, trades skills, work execution, and reporting.This position may require working extended hours with short notice, a strong sense of ownership and urgency, motivation and innovation, clearly visible leadership skills.The individual must be able to manage through influence in implementation of a comprehensive facility plan because there are multiple positions within the mill that will have responsibilities for portions of the plan from departments such as mill engineering, maintenance, and production.A key element of this position will be to evaluate issues and prioritize projects to ensure that spending is focused on the right areas.
