Pay: $18.50 per hour, or more, depending on experience.
Schedule: The regular schedule for this position will be 8am-4pm on Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday for a 37.5-hour workweek.

Position Summary:
The Facilities Generalist works independently as well as with the other members of the Facilities Department to perform and/or assist with the cleaning, maintenance and repair of Powells facilities, ensuring a long and useful life for buildings and equipment. The Generalist works under established parameters and has latitude in decision-making authority to solve problems as they arise. They work at the direction of the Senior Facilities Manager and the Facilities Manager and report to the Facilities Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Performs and/or assists with cleaning, maintenance and repair of Powells facilities.
- Assesses a wide variety of facilities problems and determines best solutions.
- Acts as Facilities contact for specific projects and assigned location(s).
- Assures timely and useful communication with outside vendors and inside customers regarding what, when, and how work is to be done.
- Provides constructive input to Facilities Managers regarding priorities and work assignments when appropriate.
- Supports the timely execution of established priorities.
- Solves a variety of facilities problems on a daily basis.
- May specialize in one or more trades including, but not limited to: carpentry, locksmith, electrical and HVAC. Acts as a resource to other members of the team.
- Balances daily urgencies with ongoing maintenance tasks.
- Acts as point person for one or more ongoing service providers: cleaning, pest control, etc.
- Works with Facilities team to maintain and organize tools, equipment, fixtures, fasteners, etc.
- May coordinate work with independent contractors and ensure on-site repairs and services are performed safely and with as little impact as possible on the shopping and work environment.
- Is responsible for some aspects of the preventative maintenance schedule.
- During specific, scheduled periods outside of normal work hours, shall be available on-call at the direction of Senior Facilities Manager or the Facilities Manager for facilities emergencies needing phone or on-site response (Powell's Books supplies pager and/or cell phone).
- Makes purchases within parameters set by Senior Facilities Manager or Facilities Manager.
- Safely uses, and appropriately stores, Powells tools and equipment.
- May drive company vehicles as necessary.
- May be called upon to act as backup to trucking/delivery staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Demonstrated handyperson skills required, including experience using power tools.
- General knowledge in one or more trade areas desirable - carpentry, electrical, painting, etc.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Computer skills (Microsoft office, work ticketing tools, email, etc) required.
- Current OR or WA driver's license required.
- Must have and maintain a driving record that is compatible with company standards.
