Position Information Position Title: Facilities Grounds Technician For Current SCC Students ONLY FLSA: Shift Day/Evening Supervisor Title: Facilities Assistant Jerry Snow Location: Yadkin Center
Job Description - Summary Student worker to assist Facilities Department with maintaining landscape and planters on campus. Students must be enrolled in AT LEAST 6 credit hours to qualify for FWS Program. This is a part-time opportunity. Students may work up to 15 hours per week depending on their unmet need on their FASFA.

This listing is intended for students that will attend Surry Community College during the 2026-2027 academic year and have need determined by the federal government. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Care and maintain garden beds and planters on campus • Weed beds and planters on a routine basis • Fertilize, prune, mulch, etc. as needed • Sow grass • Follow Safety Guidelines and Protocols • Being able to work with Multiple Supervisors • Assist with the construction/implementation of future grounds/landscape changes
General Qualifications • Student must be punctual and have a knowledge of plants and plant care
Required Qualifications • Ability to work independently or as a team • Trustworthy • Interpersonal Skills • Ability to work in outside elements • Ability to use garden tools and equipment (rake, shovel, edger, weed eater)
Preferred Qualifications • Horticulture background • Understanding of Grounds Safety Guidelines and Procedures • Understanding of how to use grounds equipment such as tractors, pressure washer, edgers, etc.
Physical Demands • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. • Stand for long periods of time • Lift heavy objects • Walk long distances • Bending for long periods • Working in the elements

Pay $14.00/hr.
