Tesla is seeking a seasoned Maintenance Planner/Scheduler with relevant industry experience to support the buildout of Tesla s Facilities Instrumentation and Controls Team at Gigafactory, NV. This position will be directly responsible for planning and scheduling daily maintenance and projects in various stages, as well as tracking and reporting progress during execution. The Planner s primary responsibility is to create work plans that assure a quality repair can be performed safely and efficiently. The Planner determines the proper scope of a job to solve the problem s root cause and how to complete the job. Job scope will include identifying the labor requirements, materials, special tools, equipment, and sequence of job steps required to safely, efficiently, and effectively accomplish a given task.
In conjunction with operations, maintenance, and technical teams, accurately determine job scope, identify required resources (materials, tools, labor, equipment), potential risks, and necessary permits to restore equipment to a safe and reliable state
Create comprehensive work plans and packages - incorporating input from technical teams, technicians, and leadership - to enable efficient scheduling, assignment, contingency planning, and safe execution of work
Maintain task list libraries, bills of material, and a healthy backlog of prioritized maintenance orders; validate and adjust maintenance order fields (target dates, priority, function, location, failure codes, etc.) with stakeholder feedback
Evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance routines and modify them as needed based on field feedback and continuous improvement opportunities
Support the development, administration, and ongoing improvement of scheduling systems, processes, and templates, including scheduling metrics and benchmarks for standardizing durations across planning stages
Track and summarize schedule performance in coordination with project controls and finance teams; lead ad-hoc schedule studies to enable rapid decision-making based on tradeoffs between alternatives
Continually identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve processes across planning, scheduling, and maintenance execution functions
2+ years of daily, routine, or project maintenance planning and scheduling experience required
Advanced PC skills including CMMS, Oracle Primavera P6, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
In-depth knowledge of the maintenance work process from work identification through maintenance order closure, including job and work plan preparation covering scope, skills identification, time, cost estimates, and resource availability
Comprehensive understanding of construction means and methods across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
Demonstrated problem-solving ability in a cross-functional environment with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to direct and manage both internal and external scheduling resources within a high-performance organization operating under tight timelines and aggressive goals
Excellent communication skills with experience interfacing at all levels of the organization; open-minded, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude
