Job Summary for Facilities Maintenance Assistant Role:
SMS Staffing is seeking Facilities Maintenance Assistants to support environmental and building maintenance operations in a fast-paced industrial setting. This hands-on role involves working both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various environmental conditions.
Job Duties:
● Pump and remove rainwater and contaminated water from pits
● Operate forklifts and move totes safely
● Power wash pits, drains, equipment and collect water samples, as needed
● Perform building maintenance (repairs, cleaning, inspections)
● Assist with snow removal
●Push, pull and move pails, drums, totes, etc, using various means
● Assist in data entry of sample records, hazardous waste records, etc.
Qualification Requirements:
● High School diploma or equivalent
● Basic math, writing, and reading skills
● Basic building maintenance skills are a must
● Forklift experience, preferred.
● Must have a valid driver's license
Special Circumstances of the Job:
● Able to operate power and hand tools, including: pressure washer, floor scrubber, and work with pumps.
● Lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
● Must be able to wear safety equipment (e.g., respirators, gloves, acid suit, goggles, steel-toe work boots, face shield, etc.)
●Able to work outdoors during inclement weather
●Able to climb, stoop, and stand for long periods of time
