Position Overview
Our client, a municipality in St. Lucie County is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Foreman to supervise and coordinate the daily maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, structures, and property.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for directing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance employees while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in commercial building maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry work.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule, assign, supervise, and participate in the daily work of building maintenance crews.
Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and improvement projects at City facilities.
Supervise approximately nine facilities maintenance employees.
Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, training, and constructive feedback.
Inspect buildings and equipment, identify maintenance concerns, and coordinate corrective action.
Oversee work involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry systems.
Ensure tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly maintained and ready for use.
Read and interpret construction plans, mechanical drawings, specifications, and work orders.
Manage maintenance projects, service agreements, vendors, and contractors.
Respond professionally to employee, department, and public requests or complaints.
Prepare work orders, records, reports, cost estimates, and other documentation.
Assist with departmental planning, purchasing, and budget-related responsibilities.
Promote compliance with workplace safety procedures and occupational hazard requirements.
Perform additional facilities maintenance duties as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least five years of experience in building construction, commercial facilities maintenance, or a closely related field.
At least one year of supervisory or crew-lead experience.
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry systems.
Ability to organize projects, assign work, and supervise employees performing varied maintenance duties.
Ability to read construction plans and mechanical drawings.
Comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office, work-order systems, and related software.
Strong communication, customer-service, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
Valid Florida drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Florida Class B Commercial Drivers License.
Municipal, government, school, hospital, condominium, or large commercial facilities experience.
Experience managing outside contractors and service agreements.
Familiarity with Tyler Technologies software or a similar municipal work-order system.
Technical certifications related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, or facilities maintenance.
Physical and Work Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and occasionally climb.
Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Comfortable working around mechanical equipment and occasionally in outdoor, elevated, dusty, humid, or otherwise challenging conditions.
Ability to respond to changing maintenance priorities and operational needs.
