Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Night Shift 7pm-7am

GPS is seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Facilities Maintenance Specialist to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing and facility infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys solving problems, working with a variety of equipment and systems, and contributing to a safe and efficient production environment.

In this role, you'll work closely with our Facilities Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure our buildings, utilities, and production support systems operate at peak performance. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys troubleshooting, and takes pride in maintaining world-class facilities, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do
Facility & Building Maintenance
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems and infrastructure, including lighting, doors, HVAC systems, roofing, plumbing fixtures, painting, and general building repairs.
  • Complete maintenance work orders in SAP, documenting labor, materials, and corrective actions.
  • Support facility improvement projects and ensure buildings remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Production & Utility Support
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide mechanical or electrical troubleshooting support to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on critical utility systems, including:
  • Air compressors
  • Boilers
  • Dust collection systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Quality, and EHS teams to maximize equipment reliability and production efficiency.
Energy & Infrastructure Management
  • Monitor and support electrical, steam, compressed air, natural gas, and HVAC utility systems.
  • Track and report energy consumption while identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with forklift inspections, facility grounds maintenance, stormwater systems, and contractor oversight.
Safety & Compliance
  • Support fire protection programs, including inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fire pumps, and safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and company policies.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, coaching safe work practices, and ensuring proper PPE usage.
General Facility Support
  • Assist with facility moves, housekeeping, and special projects as needed.
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for outdoor maintenance and facility services.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Education
  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field
OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 3 years of hands-on mechanical or electrical maintenance experience in an industrial environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or utility systems
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems
  • Experience with SAP or other maintenance management software is a plus
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Computer proficiency and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
