Purpose of Position
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is the junior classification in the Airport Facilities Maintenance Worker series. Performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to area of assignment within the Redmond Municipal Airport including facilities and parking lots. Incumbents in this role will assist with HVAC Systems, boilers, and piping within and around the Airport.
This description covers the most significant essential and auxiliary duties performed but does not include other occasional work which may be similar, related to, or logical assignment to the position.

Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs basic facilities maintenance tasks, including painting, lighting, plumbing, and heating/cooling.
Performs basic construction, carpentry, remodeling, roofing, and woodworking tasks such as building of structures, fences, furniture, signs, and cabinets.
Performs basic concrete and finish work such as sidewalks, street patch repairs, ramps, pads, and driveways; set forms, pour concrete, and completes final finish work.
Maintains landscapes, turf, shrubs, trees, and flower beds. Trims trees and shrubs.
Operates and maintains automatic and hand irrigation systems.
Installs irrigation equipment.
Performs inspections and promptly reports any vehicle, component concerns, or issues to a supervisor and/or the Fleet Services Division through the Service Request program.
Operates in a competent, safe manner, a wide variety of vehicles and equipment required to perform duties in assigned area.
Train and obtain knowledge surrounding boilers and piping.
Train and obtain knowledge surrounding HVAC systems.
Performs basic operational and safety checks on vehicles and maintains both interior and exterior cleanliness.
Operates a motor vehicle regularly to attend to building maintenance and landscape needs.
Performs outdoor clean-up tasks on Airport properties, including parking lots and rights-of-way.
Performs snow & ice removal and applies deicer or gravel to facilities and parking lot sideways.
Security knowledge, responsibilities and active participation are mandatory requirements due to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations. Security responsibilities and training will be provided. Employee accepts and acknowledges responsibilities upon issuance of a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Carries assigned phone to respond to maintenance requests/emergencies.
Performs other duties as assigned within the Redmond Municipal Airport property.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Requirements:
High school diploma, or GED equivalent, plus three (3) years verifiable work experience, which has provided specific knowledge in the area assigned; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties. Woodworking experience and/or equipment operation related to the described duties of this position.
Basic understanding of:
The principles and practices associated with the repair, maintenance, and installation of irrigation and/or landscaping, facilities maintenance, HVAC systems, boilers, and/or construction. The systems, practices, methods, hazards, and safety precautions associated with materials, vehicles, equipment, and tools in area of assignment.
Ability to:
Drive or operate motor vehicles, equipment, machines, and tools safely and in conformance with applicable laws, regulations, and work rules; detect needed repairs and make minor adjustments to equipment, machines or tools needed to perform duties; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; work independently in performance of regular assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
The position requires employees to operate a motor vehicle in the course of their position. Possession of, or must obtain within thirty (30) days from date of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license.
Must have a safe driving record.
Must be able to pass FBI background check.
Obtain an Oregon Class I Boiler Building Mechanic Certification within one (1) year of hire.
Must follow PPE requirements as outlined in the position specific PPE Hazard Assessment Certification.
Desirable Requirements:
For desirable requirements to be considered, one must have met the minimum requirements noted above:
Twelve (12) months' verifiable work experience in municipal (City/County/State Government)
Twelve (12) months' verifiable Airport/Airfield experience in facilities maintenance
Twelve months' experience in HVAC systems and or boilers.
Possession of a current Basic first Aid and CPR Certificate.
Work Environment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision is not a function of this position. Employee may assist in operational procedures to other employees.

The employee must occasionally team lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and rarely team lift and/or move more than one hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear audible alarms and two-way radio transmissions.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:
Telephone system, mobile radio, cell phone; operates pickup/backhoe, dump truck, sweeper, chain/trimming saws, snowplow/blower, miscellaneous power and hand tools, grader, weed eaters, lawn edgers, loader, riding and manual lawn mowers, and other landscaping equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions; near moving mechanical parts; vibrations; exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to adverse weather conditions.
The noise level in the field environment is usually moderate, except during certain maintenance duties when noise levels may be loud.
Employees in this position are required to work in areas or around equipment which may meet or exceed the OSHA Hearing Conservation sound level. Employees in this position will participate in the City of Redmond Hearing Conservation Program.
This position will be shifting work that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.
