Facilities Maintenance Specialist

We are looking for an organized, professional, and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Facilities Specialist. The Facilities Specialist is a hands-on position focused on the day-to-day maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and operation of building systems and equipment. This role will perform routine facility inspections, respond to maintenance needs, assist with preventive maintenance activities, coordinate with vendors when needed, and document work performed. The Facilities Specialist must be able to work independently, troubleshoot a variety of facility-related issues, and quickly adapt to changing operational needs while providing dependable technical support to our facilities and business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and hands-on experience in at least one of the following skilled trades: electrical, mechanical, or plumbing. Experience in multiple trades is a plus. The candidate should have a strong understanding of building systems and equipment, as well as experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

The Facilities Specialist performs inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of facility systems and equipment, including, but not limited to, emergency power systems, electrical distribution, IT support equipment, fire detection and suppression systems, HVAC, and chilled water systems. The position may also assist with vendor coordination and specialized maintenance activities as needed.

What does GTE look for as a Facilities Specialist?

• Serve as first responder for repairs and employee needs. Furniture repair and relocation, lighting repairs, miscellaneous painting, floor and ceiling system finishes, plumbing, and all other building-related issues.
• Perform adjustments to the building automation system. Track and report status of points and alarms.
• Assist in setting up for special events on campus.
• Assist and support the Administration team with the ability to back up their roles in the credit union when needed. Act as an ambassador between the Administration department and the Community Financial Centers along with other various departments.
• Assure timely procurement of goods and services in order to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and changing priorities as needed.
• Ensures confidentiality of all information and transactions regarding the credit union, its Members, and its employees are held to the highest level of business ethics.
• Supports a “team” environment in the workplace as well as credit union management and the board of directors.
• Participate in credit union training and required testing. Support and encourage the credit union mission, vision, and brand promise.
• For the purpose of achieving/exceeding organizational goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for the continuous quality improvement of processes and service to internal and external customers/members.
• Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees (internal customers) to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing organizational goals.
• Experience working with all levels of management.

• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
• Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ business development work experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Strong background and/or hands-on experience in at least one of the following skilled trades: electrical, mechanical, or plumbing.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair building systems and related equipment.
• Electrical and/or Mechanical certification or licensing preferred.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  

Position Details:

• Location:  Downtown Tampa – GTE Headquarters
• Department Hours:  Monday– Friday (7:30 am to 4:00 pm)

Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
