Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, cleanliness, organization, and safe operation of company facilities, grounds, and building systems. This position performs routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, groundskeeping, and facility support activities to ensure a clean, safe, secure, and efficient work environment. The Facilities Maintenance Technician assists with facility improvement projects, building security systems, contractor coordination, and general facility operations to support the needs of the organization.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform general building maintenance duties including changing light bulbs, replacing filters, painting touch-ups, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, and facility systems to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, compressed air equipment, and other building infrastructure.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to transport equipment, materials, supplies, and other items in support of facility maintenance and company operations.
  • Assist in the operation and upkeep of facility security systems, including access control systems, security cameras, alarm systems, door hardware, and exterior lighting.
  • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance activities with approved vendors and service providers as needed.
  • Support building opening and closing procedures and respond to facility alarms or building-related issues as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of facility grounds, including shop floors, dock areas, storage areas, parking lots, sidewalks, and building exteriors.
  • Support seasonal grounds maintenance activities, including landscaping, snow removal, and ice control.
  • Clean and organize maintenance, storage, and utility areas.
  • Clean completed equipment and perform minor paint touch-ups as needed.
  • Support facility improvement projects, company meetings, and special events through setup, teardown, and facility preparation activities.
  • Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and documentation as required.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull equipment, tools, and maintenance materials as required.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms as needed.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely perform maintenance duties.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in manufacturing, warehouse, office, and outdoor environments.
  • Regular exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and weather conditions.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required to support facility needs, emergencies, or special projects.

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical, vocational, or maintenance-related training preferred.

Experience

  • One to three years of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, manufacturing, or related experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, repair techniques, and safe work practices.
  • Basic knowledge of facility security systems, including access control, cameras, and alarm systems.
  • Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email and maintenance tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and service-oriented.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid driver''s license required.
  • Acceptable driving record that meets the company''s vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Ability to safely operate trucks and trailers and tow equipment as required.
