Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance on facility buildings, grounds, equipment, machinery, and vehicles to ensure all organizational assets remain safe, functional, and in good working condition. This role supports daily operations through timely repairs, routine inspections, equipment servicing, and facility upkeep while maintaining compliance with safety standards and agency policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on buildings, grounds, equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, flooring, painting, HVAC, and related systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, equipment breakdowns, and emergency repair situations in a timely manner.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance, inspections, and field breakdown support.
  • Maintain safety equipment in vehicles and facilities, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
  • Perform floor care services including stripping, waxing, polishing, and carpet cleaning as needed.
  • Complete and maintain accurate daily maintenance and repair documentation.
  • Assist with facility setup and teardown for special events.
  • Serve as a backup commercial driver when required.
  • Follow all safety regulations, lock out/tag out procedures, and agency policies.
  • Report safety hazards, unusual incidents, and repair needs to supervisor promptly.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid California driver’s license with good DMV record.
  • Commercial Class C driver license with passenger endorsement.
  • Minimum of two years of major maintenance repair experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, and equipment repair.
  • Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, maintenance equipment, forklifts, and vehicles safely.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials, climb ladders, bend, crawl, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to complete assignments independently and efficiently.

Preferred

  • Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or related field.
  • Experience with commercial facility maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Experience servicing grounds maintenance equipment and fleet vehicles.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Monday–Friday (On-Site) 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hrs./wk.)
  • May require response to after-hours alarms or emergency maintenance situations.
  • Pay Rate: $25 per hour
