A day in your work boots

Morning begins with a walk-through: checking emergency and exit lighting, listening for a fan that’s not quite right, and surveying doors and windows for wear. You’ll schedule preventive care for building systems and equipment, then pivot to hands-on fixes—tightening hardware, replacing a screen, or troubleshooting a minor plumbing or electrical issue. When something urgent pops up, you’ll communicate promptly with management, flagging any situation that calls for major repair.

By midday, you might be outside tending to landscaping and grounds, removing hazards before they become injuries. Throughout the day, you’ll document issues, correct deficiencies, and circle back to confirm repairs hold.

What you’ll take on

• Minor carpentry: repair windows, doors, hardware, screens, and furniture.
• Basic electrical, plumbing, and appliance fixes, including fans and emergency/exit lights.
• Preventive maintenance for the building, equipment, and grounds.
• Routine inspections; identify defects, deterioration, and wear, and report promptly.
• Immediate verbal communication to management for emergencies requiring major repair.
• Correction of safety hazards to prevent injuries.
• Landscaping and general grounds upkeep.

• 2–3 years of relevant maintenance experience.
