Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED (equivalent to completion of twelfth grade).

Experience:

  • Two years of full-time experience in general maintenance, renovations, construction, or facilities maintenance.
  • Specialized training in maintenance, construction, or facilities maintenance may substitute for experience.

About the Role

The Facilities Maintenance Worker performs maintenance, installation, and repair activities across building systems including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, groundskeeping, and equipment operation to support shelter facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing repairs including sinks, toilets, valves, and pipe replacements.
• Operate and maintain heating and hot water equipment; replace filters, pumps, and thermostats.
• Perform carpentry activities including repairing and installing doors, windows, floors, railings, and locks.
• Assist with roof repairs and installation of roofing materials.
• Support renovation and remodeling including plaster repair, drywall, and painting.
• Perform minor electrical repairs, install outlets, lighting fixtures, and run wiring.
• Maintain outdoor grounds including mowing, trimming, and snow removal.
• Move and transport equipment, furniture, supplies, and client belongings.
• Operate tools and machinery including drills, saws, lawnmowers, and snow blowers.
• Perform vehicle upkeep including tire changes, fluid checks, and cleaning.
• Complete required documentation using work request and tracking systems.
• Perform masonry tasks including tile and carpet installation and repairs.
• Other duties as assigned.
