Summary

This is the third of three levels in the Facilities Management series.

Incumbents plan, schedule and coordinate small capital projects and corrective and preventative maintenance activities. Responsibilities may include preparing project plans; identifying facility needs and resources; modifying project plans as needed; coordinating the activities of external contractors and staff; inspecting work in progress; creating and maintaining project files; reviewing and managing work requests; analyzing job requirements, and determining materials, equipment and labor needs in order to complete maintenance economically and efficiently; developing a weekly schedule; participating in the determination of job priorities; ensuring that maintenance software data files are complete and current; identifying, analyzing and reviewing equipment maintenance problems with maintenance engineering and revising maintenance management plans as is appropriate; and providing training to operations and/or facilities personnel in maintenance management.

Examples of Duties

  • Manages small capital projects, which includes managing the approval process for project plans, serving as central point of communication to respond to questions, coordinating project schedules; and or performing other related activities.
  • Prepares estimated budgets for projects; revises and approves project budget changes as necessary.
  • Manages, prepares, updates, monitors and analyzes a variety of project documents including project files, bids and or related documents and equipment maintenance problems and revises maintenance management plans as necessary.
  • Develops weekly maintenance schedule and assists the Building and Parks Superintendent in deterring job priorities.
  • Ensures the work order system files are complete and current by gathering equipment, inventory and associated information of the entire facility and developing standardized codes for equipment and task/craft assignments for all maintenance activities.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and reviews maintenance problems and safety issues with Building and Parks Superintendent and revises the maintenance management program as necessary to improve and enhance building and field operations.
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates the maintenance, repair, and trades activities of assigned facilities, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating projects, processes, procedures, systems, and/or standards; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
  • May prioritize and assign work to lower level staff; monitor the performance of lower level staff. Trains staff on operations, work methods, and maintenance management topics.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree and four years of related facility management, maintenance, and construction experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Valid Drivers License as per State law or requirement.
