Direct/Manage/Supervise the overall operation and maintenance of building, equipment, and grounds. Maintain compliance with all procedures, policies, and regulations and ensure timely response to regulatory issues and inspection findings. Plan facilities' organizational structure to accommodate growth and change in priorities. Determine needs for equipment leases, purchases, and services. Negotiate contracts with vendors and maintain vendor relationships. Ensure that projects meet specifications and budgets. Ensure that necessary licenses and permits are obtained. Coordinate and lead daily team activities. May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise. Assist with management decisions and activities. Working knowledge of team function within the organization. Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Assumes work equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience).

Responsibilities

Supervisor, Facilities Management

Oversees the maintenance and operation of buildings, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. This includes all MEP staff, vendors, coordinating repairs, developing preventative maintenance plans, and managing budgets for building maintenance. They also play a role in ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards, as well as coordinating with other departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily maintenance and operations of assigned facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
  • Supervises facilities staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinates preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Monitors and manages service contracts (e.g., custodial, landscaping, elevator), ensuring vendor performance and compliance. Ensures compliance with university policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements; addresses inspection findings in a timely manner.
  • Develops and monitors maintenance budgets.
  • Conducts routine inspections and ensures quality and completion of work.
  • Collaborates with campus partners, project managers, and external contractors on maintenance and construction activities.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for building occupants and resolves facilities-related issues.
  • Supports continuous improvement of processes, service delivery, and team effectiveness.
  • May perform hands-on maintenance work as needed to support operations.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Supervisor, Facilities Management: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.

Preferences

Experience supervising multi-trade or multi-functional facilities teams. Familiarity with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programs. Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
