Facilities Manager Position

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of all school facilities and grounds.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance systems and schedules.
  • Respond promptly to operational and facilities-related emergencies.

Building Systems & Repairs

  • Oversee maintenance and repair work related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and building access systems.
  • Coordinate external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and projects.
  • Ensure completion and quality control of all repair and maintenance projects.

Safety, Compliance & Security

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and school operational standards.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and safety drills.
  • Maintain accurate records related to maintenance, repairs, inspections, and vendor services.

Event & Operational Support

  • Support school events, after-school programming, and community events through facilities setup and coordination.
  • Coordinate furniture movement, deliveries, mail distribution, and operational logistics.

Team Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Supervise facilities and maintenance staff to ensure strong performance and accountability.
  • Manage relationships with custodial vendors, maintenance providers, security vendors, and contractors.

Strategic Operations Support

  • Partner with the COO and Director of Operations to support long-term facilities planning.
  • Support budget planning and expense management related to facilities operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent facilities management experience considered.
  • Significant experience in facilities management, building operations, maintenance supervision, or school operations.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and facilities staff.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, safety compliance, and operational maintenance.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is approximately $70,000 - $95,000, commensurate with experience and education.
