Position Overview SafeNest is seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and mission-driven Facilities Manager to lead the safe and efficient operation of our Residential Campus. This is a hands-on leadership role that goes beyond traditional property management. The Facilities Manager plays a critical part in ensuring that every physical space at SafeNest reflects our commitment to dignity, safety, and healing for the survivors and families we serve. The Facilities Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all building operations, vendor relationships, safety compliance, and campus-wide maintenance. They will coordinate day-to-day upkeep, oversee long-term improvement projects, and proactively identify and address any conditions that could affect the well-being of our clients, staff, or volunteers. This role requires a strong sense of urgency, sound judgment, and deep respect for the sensitive environment in which we operate. Job Summary The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, security, and operational readiness of the SafeNest Residential Campus. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Residential Services, this position ensures that all campus facilities, grounds, and infrastructure support a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for survivors, staff, volunteers, and community partners. The Facilities Manager serves as the primary lead for facility operations, vendor management, preventative maintenance, campus improvement projects, safety compliance, and physical security systems. This position works closely with the Assistant Director of Residential Services to support strategic campus improvements, operational efficiency, emergency preparedness, and long-term facility planning. Primary Responsibilities Facility Operations & Maintenance - Oversee the daily maintenance, cleanliness, repair, and overall functionality of all Residential Campus buildings, grounds, and common areas.
- Conduct regular campus inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for facility improvements.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, technology, and structural systems.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize emergency repairs.
- Maintain inventory of facility equipment, tools, supplies, and replacement materials.
- Ensure campus appearance reflects SafeNest's commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for survivors.
Capital Projects & Campus Improvements - Manage facility renovation projects, capital improvements, and campus enhancement initiatives from planning through completion.
- Partner with the Assistant Director of Residential Services on facility master planning and long-term infrastructure needs.
- Obtain bids, evaluate proposals, and provide recommendations for vendor and contractor selection.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and contractor performance to ensure successful completion.
Vendor & Contract Management - Serve as the primary liaison for contractors, service providers, and facility vendors.
- Coordinate vendor access and ensure compliance with SafeNest safety, confidentiality, and security requirements.
- Monitor vendor performance and service agreements.
- Maintain records of warranties, contracts, inspections, and service schedules.
- Track facility expenditures and provide budget updates to the Assistant Director of Residential Services.
Safety, Security & Regulatory Compliance - Maintain responsibility for campus safety systems, including security cameras, access control systems, alarms, lighting, and emergency equipment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, fire codes, building regulations, and agency policies.
- Coordinate corrective actions related to safety concerns and compliance findings.
- Maintain emergency preparedness plans, evacuation procedures, and facility response protocols.
- Partner with Residential Leadership to ensure facility operations support client and staff safety at all times.
- Provide safety training and facility-related emergency preparedness education for staff.
Property & Campus Management - Support the Assistant Director of Residential Services in maintaining a safe, secure, and trauma-informed campus environment.
- Monitor campus grounds, parking areas, exterior spaces, storage areas, and community-use facilities.
- Oversee facility readiness for inspections, audits, donor visits, community events, and program activities.
- Ensure pet program facilities, kennels, outdoor animal areas, and related infrastructure remain safe, functional, and compliant.
Team Leadership - Supervise Facilities coordinator and contracted maintenance personnel.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing training.
- Establish work schedules and ensure adequate coverage for facility operations.
- Promote a culture of accountability, responsiveness, customer service, and preventative maintenance.
Skills and Qualifications Required: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, property management, maintenance operations, construction oversight, or a related field.
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, facility projects, and maintenance budgets.
- Working knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance practices, OSHA requirements, fire codes, and facility safety standards.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively during emergencies.
- Valid Nevada driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Preferred: - Five or more years of facilities or property management experience.
- Experience in residential, shelter, nonprofit, healthcare, hospitality, or multi-site environments.
- Experience overseeing capital improvement projects and facility renovations.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed environmental design and survivor-centered facilities.
- Trade certifications, facilities management certifications, or construction-related training.
Key Performance Indicators: - Completion of preventative maintenance schedules.
- Timely resolution of work orders and facility issues.
- Successful completion of campus improvement projects within budget and timeline.
- Compliance with OSHA, fire, safety, and regulatory requirements.
