The HS Facilities Manager 1 is responsible for the management, operation, and reliability of Menominee Nation High School's building infrastructure and mechanical systems. This position provides leadership in planning, budgeting, and coordinating maintenance activities that ensure the school operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with district policies and regulatory standards.
This role oversees preventative maintenance programs, building mechanical systems, and energy management including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), geothermal systems, and solar infrastructure. The Facilities Manager ensures that all building systems operate effectively to provide a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient environment that supports student learning and staff productivity.
In addition to technical oversight, the position manages the facilities budget, procurement processes, vendor contracts, and inventory of maintenance materials and equipment. The manager collaborates with district leadership, maintenance staff, contractors, and service providers to coordinate repairs, system upgrades, and long-term capital planning.
The HS Facilities Manager must maintain strong organizational and problem-solving skills while responding to facility needs as they arise. This position is responsible for maintaining building safety systems, emergency preparedness procedures including evacuation plans, and electronic control systems associated with building operations. Availability for after-hours emergencies or urgent facility issues is required to ensure the continued safety and functionality of school facilities.
Through proactive planning, system monitoring, and operational oversight, this role plays a key part in protecting the district's physical assets and ensuring the high school facilities remain safe, reliable, and well-maintained for students, staff, and community members.
Responsibilities:
Budget & Administrative Oversight
Develop and manage the High School facilities budget
Track expenditures and assist in long-term capital improvement planning
Manage purchasing, inventory control, and vendor contracts
Oversee service agreements and ensure compliance with district procurement policies
Preventative Maintenance & Mechanical Systems
Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule
Inspect and maintain boilers, HVAC systems, geothermal systems, and mechanical equipment
Oversee heating and air conditioning controls to ensure energy efficiency and occupant comfort
Monitor and maintain solar panel systems and associated infrastructure
Coordinate and perform mechanical repairs as needed
Safety, Emergency & Security Systems
Maintain and update the building evacuation and emergency response plan
Oversee electronic building systems including building automation controls
Manage and monitor security system infrastructure in coordination with administration
Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulatory requirements
Be available for emergencies and after-hours facility issues
