Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is a hands-on working supervisor responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and security of International School of Brooklyn’s buildings. This role keeps our facilities safe, clean, and fully operational for students, staff, families, and weekend community users, and does so as a welcoming, caring, and recognizable person in our school community.
The Facilities Manager interacts daily with faculty, vendors, contractors, security guards, inspectors, rental partners, and community groups. The ideal candidate is a social, community- minded professional who is energized by daily interaction with children, families, staff, and outside partners and vendors. They are hands-on dependable, willing to roll up their sleeves and address challenges directly rather than simply delegate tasks. They remain calm and steady under pressure, able to prioritize and respond thoughtfully when unexpected situations arise, whether it’s a maintenance issue, an operational challenge, or a community concern. With strong customer service instincts and genuine warmth, they take pride in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for the entire school community. They are organized, reliable, and committed to following through—ensuring that questions are answered, details are managed, and tasks are brought to completion.
