The Facilities Manager oversees the full management, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the manufacturing plant, machining center and surrounding grounds. This position will manage two maintenance mechanics  and contractors to ensure a safe, productive, and cost-effective environment that supports the manufacturing operations. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for machines at both facilities.
  • Manage daily maintenance of both facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, general repairs and upgrades.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Coordinate with Production and Machining Center to schedule repairs without disrupting output. 
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal and environmental reporting.
  • Ensure all permits (elevators, boilers) are current. 
  • Ensure both facilities comply with OSHA, DEP, EPA, and local building codes.
  • Inspect buildings, sites and equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance and troubleshooting requests.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Coordinate the layout, installation, and testing of new machinery to ensure they meet performance specifications.
  • Create and maintain response plans for power outages, chemical spills, or fires. 
  • Develop and deliver safety training for staff, covering hazardous material handling and machine operation protocols.
  • Oversee the procurement lifecycle for facility services, including RFP (Request for Proposal) generation, bid evaluation, and the development of CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) justifications for major facility enhancements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for after-hours facility emergencies, ensuring rapid on-site response to critical incidents such as power outages, fire alarms, or security breaches.
  • Work with leadership to design floor plans for new production lines or facility expansions. 

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the facility grounds & safety: Ensure parking lots, walkways, and exterior structures are safe and well-maintained (e.g., snow removal, debris cleanup).

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:

  • The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of facilities experience with deep technical fluency in critical building systems. This includes the operational oversight of HVAC/R, high-voltage power distribution, and commercial plumbing/sewer infrastructure. We require a leader who is comfortable navigating fire protection panels and integrated security systems, ensuring that all building technology remains compliant, efficient, and reliable.
  • This position requires 8-10 years in facilities management, specifically in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Four year degree with a strong background in Facility Management, or a related technical field.
  • FMP (Facility Management Professional) or CFM (Certified Facility Manager) preferred.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical failures under pressure.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams in a fast paced, growing environment.
  • Skilled at translating technical issues for non-technical leadership.
  • Vendor management, strong negotiation skills for high-value service contracts.
