Facilities Mechanical Engineer

Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
Location: Boise, Idaho (On-Site)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team in Boise, Idaho. In this role, you will support projects that enable cutting-edge research, development, testing, and advanced manufacturing operations. Working within a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment, you will partner closely with client stakeholders, equipment owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative facility solutions for some of the most sophisticated industrial manufacturing environments in the world.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design, engineering, and implementation of complex facility infrastructure systems that support manufacturing tool installations, tenant improvements, and facility upgrades. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects while advancing your expertise in industrial and semiconductor facility engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical engineering designs and construction documents for facility and manufacturing infrastructure projects.
  • Design and layout systems including:
    • HVAC systems
    • Wet and dry piping systems
    • Process chemical piping
    • Specialty gas distribution systems
    • Industrial exhaust systems
    • Fire suppression systems
    • Mechanical equipment layouts
    • Plumbing and utility infrastructure
  • Support installation and integration of complex manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, component selection, and system specifications.
  • Evaluate existing facility infrastructure and develop retrofit solutions to accommodate new manufacturing equipment installations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop coordinated design packages.
  • Work directly with clients, stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, and contractors to define utility requirements and installation criteria.
  • Develop utility requirement documentation for next-generation and prototype manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and project coordination activities.
  • Provide construction-phase support including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits.
  • Assist with commissioning, startup, and integration activities as projects transition into operation.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in mechanical facilities engineering.
  • Experience with facility systems including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust systems, plumbing, and related mechanical infrastructure.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with active pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, calculations, and design methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience supporting complex semiconductor manufacturing environments, including tool manufacturing, installation, integration, or cleanroom operations.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks software.
  • Experience developing construction documents for industrial or advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • One (1) year of field experience in an industrial facility environment.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and eagerness to learn new technologies and best practices.
  • Passion for facility design, construction, and engineering excellence.
