Facilities Project Manager

PROJECT MANAGER with experience in Commercial Facilities and Building related projects (those could be HVAC, architectural, electrical).

This position is for the Maryland State and Highway Administration; the job is in-person and will be performed at the SHA office in Hanover, Maryland.

Occasional site visits to specific facilities locations may be necessary (mileage will be reimbursed).

PROVIDE PROJECT MANAGEMENT FROM INCEPTION TO CONSTRUCTION

- Receive initial report of building problems or participate in scheduled maintenance planning

- Reach out to consultants

- Receive service proposals and cost estimates

- Work out through the issue, keep tabs of progress, follow up with the contractors, report status to upper management or other respective departments

- Provide technical assistance for capital planning for building envelope and HVAC system replacement statewide

- Assist in completing evaluations, inventories, or investigations of facility components to determine safety, code, and regulatory compliance and components at end of their life cycle.

- Assist in identifying the nature of deficient facility components for future potential capital improvement projects.

- Assist in research of historical information to determine cost estimates for budgeting potential capital building projects.

- Assist in systems acceptance and commissioning activities to be conducted by the Engineer of Record and the Commissioning Authority.

- Participate in construction, preconstruction and progress meetings

- Coordinate with the Consultants, Contractors, Commissioning Authority and Designer of Record to ensure construction progress

- Expedite Requests for Information, Red Lines, Change Orders, etc.

- Monitor contractor’s work quality.

- Review contractor’s payment applications.

- Complete other duties in association with capital improvement projects and facilities, as requested.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE:

- a BS in either Engineering, Project Management, Facilities, Construction Management, Public Administration

- 5 to 20 years of experience in managing new and renovation projects

- good “people skills”, have a positive disposition, be able to work/interact well with contractors, consultants, architects, engineers and clients to produce high-quality project outcomes

- good writing skills

- experience in directing/implementing designs through final construction.

- proper documentation to work in U.S.

- experience with various commercial HVAC equipment is a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience.
