Facilities Reliability Technician – MEP Systems

Day in the Life

Start your day by reviewing incoming requests from JEM associates and prioritizing what needs attention first. You’ll join a quick huddle with Operations, then head out on a route that mixes proactive inspections with hands-on fixes across our buildings, utilities, and production support areas.

What You’ll Tackle

• Respond promptly to department and individual service requests, exercising sound judgment while representing JEM and the Operations team.
• Perform routine interior and exterior facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and repairs.
• Clean machining equipment using appropriate methods and materials (cleaning solvents, cloths, vacuums, and more).
• Complete light HVAC work along with painting, basic carpentry, and masonry tasks.
• Inspect production and building equipment regularly to determine maintenance and repair needs.
• Handle electrical upkeep (e.g., replacing/repairing fixtures) and plumbing repairs (e.g., fixing leaking faucets).
• Coordinate and monitor contractors (electricians, plumbers, etc.) for routine and emergency work.
• Install modular office spaces and maintain office furniture to support team growth.
• Use and care for hand, power, and specialty tools safely and effectively.
• Track parts/supplies and purchase hardware, tools, and other items within budget via local vendors or the JEM purchasing department.
• During winter, remove snow and apply salt at facility entrances and exits.
• Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee; champion safe work practices and deliver updates/training as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement across facilities maintenance processes.
• Operate a forklift safely and maintain current certification.
• Comply with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
• Support JEM’s mission and exemplify our core values daily; maintain regular, predictable attendance; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related facilities/maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current or attainable forklift certification (and willingness to maintain it).

Technical Strengths

• Mechanical troubleshooting and pneumatics troubleshooting.
• Machine safety inspections and safe work practices.
• Comfort working around VFDs, PLCs, conveyor systems, and servo motors.

Work Environment

At times you’ll encounter wet or humid (non-weather) conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; climb to high or precarious places; and be exposed to fumes/airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, electrical shock risk, and vibration. The typical noise level is moderately loud.

Physical Demands

Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs., frequently up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Role requires close, distance, and peripheral vision plus depth perception. Expect frequent standing, walking, reaching, hand use, and talking/hearing; occasional sitting, climbing/balancing, and stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling.
