JOB SUMMARY
Provides direction, coordination, instructions, assigns, trains, oversees and participates with work of the department building maintenance shift technicians and shift workers involved in the essential routine maintenance and repair functions of mechanical operations and proper upkeep of all areas of the casino facilities in an orderly and attractive manner.
JOB DUTIES
- Installs, diagnoses, trouble-shoots, repairs, maintains, monitors and performs preventive maintenance and routine upkeep on complex mechanical and electrical distribution systems throughout the casino and of a varied nature.
- Plans, coordinates, schedules, prepares materials and equipment and inspects daily assigned work orders for quality, accuracy and completeness, required for completion within set timelines
- Assists in the supervisory duties such as interviewing, work scheduling and planning, budgeting, conducting shift meetings, maintaining records, performance appraisals, discipline, addressing complaints, worker safety and resolving problems.
- Trains and teaches shift associates in the principles and techniques of building construction and trouble-shooting functions as necessary in all aspects of the maintenance department.
- Perform tasks in the mechanical skill area such as electrical, fabrication, assembly, welding and pipefitting, and occasionally perform tasks in other trades as needed.
- Operates and maintains specialized machinery, equipment and tools utilized in the construction, demolition, erection or improvement of the building as a whole.
- Works from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches from equipment schematics.
- Demonstrate willingness to improve department operations, passes on information to following shifts, and makes recommendations for equipment replacement/upgrade.
- Prepares and plans for purchase requisitions, contract services, and bids/pricing on materials, equipment and supplies.
- Complete all routine paperwork and shift reports on a daily basis, and coordinates work activities with other facility trades such as: HVAC and Grounds/Landscaping for the purpose of ensuring efficient scheduling and the passing on of pertinent grounds and HVAC information.
- Demonstrate strong leadership abilities, good common sense, good attendance and initiative, and always perform duties in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrate ability to complete assignments personally, as well as delegate and follow through on assignments to staff.
- Must adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the casino and department.
- Must attend all company and department training/meetings as directed.
- Know the locations of all shop equipment, materials and supply inventory and complete all paperwork that relates to maintenance operational procedures.
- Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to, and train and enforce proper safety methods for equipment/tool operation, chemical use and lifting techniques
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work
- Within the framework of Tribal regulations, provide operational guidance and support to the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska’s Indian gaming enterprises under the Winnebago Gaming Development Corporation. (WGDC)
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school or GED required.
At least 5 years of responsible experience in building maintenance or related fields.
Additional experience/training in electrical field preferred.
Previous supervisory experience required. Knowledge of materials, methods, principles, practices and the appropriate tools in the following fields:
· Carpentry
· Plumbing
· Electrical
· Welding
· Painting
Basic computer skills required.
Must possess the ability to negotiate with vendors when purchasing equipment/supplies and service
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must be able to obtain Class III gaming license
Must satisfactorily complete 90-day probationary period
Must possess a sensitivity to Indian culture
Must be able to interact successfully with associates and guests
Must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Must be available on-call for emergency situations
Must have a telephone
Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Must be able to be flexible and or coordinate regular scheduled days off, vacations and different start times with approaching weather conditions, training and scheduled/unscheduled work
Must be able to withstand a smoky environment for extended periods of time, with direct exposure to secondhand smoke.

Must be willing to improve professional skills through additional training and development
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be in good physical condition.
Required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to stand/walk/bend for up to eight hours; and frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Must be able to manually lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. intermittently. Heavier parts are lifted using other methods.
Must be able to work and climb on ladders, scaffolds, man-lifts up to 40 feet.
Must be able to work under extreme weather variations and conditions and be exposed to temperature variations and wet and/or humid work conditions.
