Job description

Pay: $38–44/hour (based on experience)
Duration: 6-month contract
Schedule: Standard business hours with the potential for occasional off-shift work
Location: 100% onsite in Holly Springs, NC

We are seeking a Mechanic III, Maintenance to support the maintenance and operation of production, process, refrigeration, HVAC, and site utility equipment in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. Reporting to a Maintenance Manager or Supervisor, this role is responsible for independently executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities while ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production, utility, refrigeration, HVAC, and process equipment.
  • Collaborate with Utilities Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure compliance with GMP guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop maintenance job plans, procedures, and work instructions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Recommend spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Process work orders and spare parts documentation through the maintenance management system.
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, and optimize equipment in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance effectiveness.
  • Respond promptly to facility alarms and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize operational downtime.
  • Support and oversee contractors performing maintenance activities.
  • Utilize maintenance and automation systems including CMMS (SAP), PLCs, DCS, Building Automation Systems, and other maintenance software.

Required skills

  • High school diploma with 5+ years of relevant GMP or industry experience, or an associate degree with 4+ years of relevant GMP or industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance disciplines within a cGMP biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and/or Building Automation Systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and organizational levels.

Preferred skills

  • Working knowledge of fermentation, purification, utilities, and formulation processes.
  • Experience supporting regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of equipment reliability and preventive maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a cross-functional maintenance team.
