Job Requirements

This opportunity is open exclusively to active-duty service members who are eligible for the DOW SkillBridge Program.

Participants will complete a 12 week On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) program, gaining hands‑on experience across multiple roles within the Facilities Department. This program is designed to provide real‑world exposure, professional development, and a pathway to explore potential post‑service career opportunities.

The Facility Technician provides maintenance duties in Facilities across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) including Inspections, Repairs, Preventative Maintenance of buildings, grounds and applicable equipment. The Facility Technician supports the adherence to all the safety, efficiency and reliability of facilities by leveraging knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across all on and off site locations.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Performs various maintenance activities such as inspections, adjustments, and repairs on

applicable equipment, facilities, and systems in accordance with established schedules and

workflow procedures.

  1. Delivers excellent service to Associates, patients, and visitors, ensuring professionalism and

courtesy in each interaction.

  1. Supports continuous operational readiness of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing equipment

by diagnosing and issuing repairs on applicable equipment, often assisting with installation,

repair, and preventative maintenance of facility fixtures, finishes, and systems such as lighting,

ceilings, flooring and walls.

  1. Maintains documentation for all work conducted within the computerized maintenance

management system (TMA/FMP) by 24-hours of completion for each task performed.

  1. Assists responses to emergent requests, such as STAT calls to minimize possible downtime

and ensure safety of all Associates, patients and visitors.

  1. Maintains, stores and operates appliable tools and equipment, properly cleaning and lubricating

all equipment to reduce possibly maintenance service delays, while overseeing inventory of

parts, supplies, and materials as needed.

  1. Ensures adherence to Health First, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

facilities standards, applying all safety practices and protocols in all work performed.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must currently be an active service member and eligible to participate in the DOW SkillBridge Program
  • Licensure: Drivers License and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) maintained.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

o Ability to provide and maintain required hand tools (job-specific power tools provided).

o Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

o Proficiency with hand and power tools used in maintenance work.

o Ability to perform basic carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.

o Strong verbal and written communication skills.

o Ability to work independently, adapt to changing duties, and respond effectively to

emergencies

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing,

or crouching frequently.

  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including

tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.

  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to

90% of the assigned shift.

  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality,

lighting, and/or low to loud noise.

  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following

OSHA and CDC guidelines.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of

personal vehicle.
