Overview

Mount Marty is pleased to accept applications for a Facilities Technician III. This is a non-exempt, full-time position and must adhere to the regulations stipulated in the Mount Marty University Employee Handbook. The Maintenance Staff employee is responsible for maintaining the structures, equipment, utilities and other designated property of Mount Marty. We strive to maintain a high quality of service in a timely manner. We do this by providing quality support through effective and experienced management. By supporting MMU, the facilities department is committed to establish and maintain a safe, clean, attractive and effective physical environment for the campus community, as well as to provide high quality support in a cost-effective manner.

About the Position

This is skilled specialized work at the expert level in a wide variety of maintenance, repair, alteration, construction, and facility duties. A broad knowledge of all disciplines is required. The successful candidate will preform varied tasks in any one or more of the following craft areas: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, painting and related disciplines and/or is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the heating and air conditioning systems used in campus buildings, to include boiler operation and maintenance. An employee in this class uses independent and professional judgement with work decisions made in accordance with all applicable building codes, departmental policies and procedures and professional protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain current certifications required for job responsibilities

Be available for ON-CALL basis, and some night and weekend work

Work overtime as required in campus emergencies, severe weather conditions and special events

Pick up any trash you come across while working and deposit it in a trash receptacle

Frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and objects up to 100 lbs. with a partner; climb, crawl, or otherwise maneuver through constricted areas (up ladders, through tunnels, etc.)

Complete work orders for your area to standard and within the assigned priority time limit

Maintain proper records for your area, fill out work orders, conduct inventories of parts on-hand, order parts needed, and complete any specific reports for equipment in your area

Perform preventive maintenance and implement new PM's to extend the life cycle of assets, reliability of service, and reduce operational expenses.

Take initiative to repair problems seen before work order is made

Supervise, train and support student employees assigned to you

Maintain a friendly atmosphere within the department and the campus community

Conduct work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner

Be familiar and comply with the safety regulations and use safety equipment which apply to tools and chemicals you work with

Perform snow removal and set-ups as required

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facility Operations

Qualifications

A High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience

Valid Driver's License

Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
