Overview
This position reports to the Facilities Supervisor and contributes to the maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the company and is responsible for the upkeep of all assigned equipment. This position works either day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or second shift rom 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, one of the following assigned areas:
- Performs a wide variety of complex duties to troubleshoot, maintain and repair all company facilities and grounds, including roads, parking lots, ditches, and other related areas. Including but not limited to: General cleaning, Painting, Flooring, Door and Door Hardware repair, Roofing, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Concrete, and other maintenance type work.
- Work with other departments to support the total operation of the PSGC campus.
- Maintain Campus lighting.
- Operate heavy equipment proficiently. Including but not limited to Vacuum Truck, Fork Truck, Tractor, Skidsteer, Backhoe, Aerial Lifts, and Dump Truck.
- Can work without direct supervision.
- Must have the ability to think outside the box and perform emergency work when needed.
- Must have regular and reliable attendance.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform special building and road projects.
- Maintain all PSGC Rental property.
- Understand and report on Work Order progress.
- Document all work performed.
- Report all problems to the Facilities Lead Tech.
- Work with all Plant, Corporate, and Mine personnel to ensure that all maintenance needs are met.

Qualification Requirements:

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Equivalent work experience, or training in a technical field such as, Electrical, Plumbing, or Construction, are preferred, but not required.
- Maintenance experience in the Facilities Field is preferred but not required.
Certification/Licensure
- None required; Plumbing and other construction certifications are preferred.
- Heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- MSHA Electrical card is preferred.
- MSHA Training is preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour training is preferred.
Knowledge of
- A practical, working knowledge of mechanical equipment, general construction, and building maintenance.
- Must have experience in work planning and execution.
- Must have the ability to interface with all levels of management.
- Adherence to high ethical standards and integrity are absolutely required.
Skills, abilities, and physical requirements
- Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ability to work any assigned shift, including evenings and weekends, if required, due to emergencies.
- Ability to work primarily on day shift from 6:00am to 4:30pm either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday including additional days or shifts as required.
- Ability to work on 2nd shift from 4:00pm to 2:30am Monday through Thursday including additional days or shifts as required.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to work unsupervised as required.
- Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability, and production control.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lb.’s.
- Work from elevated positions, walk or climb up and down stairways and ladders and climb on and off equipment and must be able to bend or stoop during work shift.
- Wear required safety equipment including respirators, hearing and eye protection, and protective clothing.

Compensation and Benefits
At Prairie State, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is between $28.33 per hour and $33.65 per hour. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition, this position is eligible to participate in the Company’s monthly incentive program.
