Position Summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all facilities within the College, ensuring all facilities and equipment remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. In this role, the Facilities Technician will diagnose and repair equipment and perform preventative maintenance. The Facilities Technician will assess and consider the safety of our Students, Faculty, and Staff, and the security of our assets. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities

- Maintain clear and concise communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain a clean appearance

- Report any potential safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor
- Be flexible in adjusting to maintenance routines based on changing needs or unexpected situations
- Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities
- Perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, lighting, fixtures, and furniture
- Assist with all building issues, such as climate control, odors, smoke, damages, emergencies and repairs
- Complete preventative maintenance schedules within required timeframes
- Assist facilities team with small repairs, cleaning common areas, moving furniture, setting up for events, and preparing outdoor spaces
- Contributes to the overall success of the campus by performing all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years of working experience in facility maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting)
- Strong communication skills with a customer service focused mindset
- Must have a valid NM Driver's license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Ability to use standard power and non-powered tools and equipment as necessary
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and use sound judgment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written)
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting
- Knowledge and use of all hand tools, power tools, and testing devices common to the trades listed above
- Ability to document work orders, maintain inventory records, and communicate with contractors
- Knowledge of basic internet and email operations
- Must be able to work independently without supervision
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time
- Must be able to utilize/view a PC and or monitor
- Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold as necessary
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to work on a ladder or roof
- Must be able to travel to the El Rito campus on demand
