Position Description:

Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market-driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. The position is responsible for maintaining and servicing all building related functions, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and ground maintenance

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Building and Equipment Maintenance 

Perform the required tasks supporting operations of the Harrisburg locations, equipment, and facilities. 

  • Building and equipment is kept in repair according to prints and manuals. Changes are documented and reviewed with supervisor within a 24-hour period.
  • Monthly Preventive Maintenance activities are completed using task layout and schedule. Records are maintained and problems noted then passed on to supervisor within a 24-hour period. 
  • Follow up on the issues raised and see through to completion when within the scope of the job function.

Special Projects

Perform tasks supporting the office and open floor plan work areas. Other components of special projects involve tasks that require more than 80 man-hours to complete, could be added during this review period.

  • Furniture and office construction is completed according to the furniture standards manual.  Discrepancies are noted and action is taken to correct issues. 
  • Strict adherence to scheduled time frame for each step of the project is achieved.
  • All work is held to a high standard and complies with required codes.

Safety 

Safety and Security procedures are followed.

  • Follow established CBC Facilities safety /security practices.
  • Remains current and participates in monthly safety training.
  • Hazardous materials are stored at approved areas.

On Call

After-hours response to supply 24-hour support for the facility.

  • Employee responds to being called-in to perform unscheduled work (equipment failure, alarms, snow removal, etc.) as required.
  • Efforts are made to first get the problem under control and then to correct the problem or contact the functional area responsible for repair. 
  • On-call reports are completed and communicated to management the next business day.

Administration

The ability to communicate and document information supporting facilities activities.

  • Preventive Maintenance records are documented and stored in established areas.
  • Documentation is both clear and accurate.
  • Work orders and Service orders are logged by the end of the day.
  • Purchase requisitions are filled out for parts and services according to Facilities policy.

Leadership:

  • Familiar with basic problem-solving actions in related fields.
  • Ability to interact with other plan personnel to complete work scheduled.
  • Engage in repair and maintenance of machines and equipment to ensure continuous operation.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Assists in plans, development and setup of new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of materials.
  • Proven ability to work with a wide variety of projects and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Must exhibit the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision in duties associated with this position.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet priorities and emergencies.
  • Ability to communicate written and verbal technical reports in related areas.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and skills required of the position include a strong background in mechanical areas such as plumbing, electrical, electronics, solid state controls and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of operational specifications and codes of plumbing and electrical design, application, repair techniques in commercial facilities.

Skills:

Plumbing, Electrical, Electronics, Solid State Controls, Carpentry with experience in commercial HVAC service work being a plus.

Experience:

3-5 Years

Education, Certification, and Licenses:

High School/GED

Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

Work Environment:

Working environment includes typical office conditions. Work environment may include occasionally working in hot, cold, or noisy areas.

Travel Requirements:

Travel between buildings (10%)

Key Interfaces:

CBC employee requests and external vendors/contractors

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to climb ladders, sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see. The employee must be able to work over 37.5 hours per week. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Assist with snow and ice removal.
