    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Facilities Technician I performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, inspection, and facility support duties to ensure Sunbeam Family Services facilities, grounds, equipment, and building systems are safe, functional, and well maintained.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Promote and support Sunbeam's mission, values, and culture through professional conduct, accountability, and teamwork.
    • Maintain professional integrity and perform all duties in compliance with Sunbeam policies, including the Culturally Competent Practice Policy.
    • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of agency facilities, grounds, equipment, and building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, painting, lighting, doors, locks, windows, fixtures, furniture, and other facility components.
    • Conduct scheduled inspections of facilities, equipment, and building systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with licensing, fire safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
    • Complete preventive maintenance activities and maintain required inspection, maintenance, safety, and compliance documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Assist in the maintenance and operation of HVAC, geothermal, electrical, plumbing, alarm, camera, keypad, lock, and other building systems, including scheduled filter replacement and routine preventive maintenance activities.
    • Diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs within the scope of training, skills, and authorization.
    • Assemble, install, move, and arrange furniture, equipment, fixtures, and supplies to support agency operations and facility needs.
    • Assist in maintaining fire extinguishers, life-safety equipment, and related safety systems in accordance with agency procedures and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in coordinating, monitoring, and supporting the work of contractors and vendors performing maintenance, repair, janitorial, lawn care, playground, security, and other facility-related services.
    • Assist in ensuring agency facilities and grounds remain clean, safe, sanitary, secure, and free of hazards and debris, including providing backup support for facility cleaning and maintenance activities when needed.
    • Collaborate with Health and Safety staff and assist with facility-related inspections, corrective actions, and compliance initiatives.
    • Perform seasonal and weather-related duties, including de-icing walkways, addressing facility conditions resulting from inclement weather, and supporting emergency preparedness activities.
    • Respond to facility emergencies, alarms, urgent maintenance issues, weather-related events, and security concerns, including after-hours response as needed.
    • Travel between agency locations and transport or pick up supplies, equipment, materials, and other items necessary to support agency operations.
    • Perform duties at varied times as necessary to accommodate agency operations, classroom schedules, meetings, special events, and maintenance needs.
    • Exercise sound judgment and work independently while effectively collaborating with staff, contractors, vendors, and community partners.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) or Executive Team member.

    Knowledge

    Abilities

    Working knowledge of building maintenance and repair, including carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related building systems.

    Skill in the safe operation and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

    Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety practices, and applicable maintenance standards.

    Ability to read and follow work orders, assembly instructions, operating manuals, and technical specifications.

    Ability to use building automation, HVAC control systems, and standard computer applications required for the position.

    Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize work and perform duties independently.

    Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, contractors, vendors, and community members and work collaboratively in a team environment.

    Commitment to supporting Sunbeam's mission, values, and culturally responsive practices while serving diverse children, families, and communities.

    Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, after-hours emergency responses, and travel between agency locations as required.

    Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license, maintain current vehicle insurance, maintain a driving record that meets Sunbeam Family Services' requirements, and have reliable transportation.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee engages in considerable physical activity and must frequently communicate with staff, vendors, contractors, and others, exchanging accurate information in a professional manner.

    The employee must be able to position themselves to perform maintenance, repair, installation, inspection, and facility support duties throughout agency locations. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive use of hands and arms. The employee frequently moves equipment, supplies, furniture, deliveries, and other items weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without assistance. The position requires sufficient mobility, manual dexterity, coordination, vision, balance, and stamina to safely operate tools and equipment and perform maintenance, repair, and facility support duties. The employee may occasionally ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and elevated work areas to perform maintenance and repair activities.

    Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and involves exposure to varying weather conditions. The employee works in multiple agency locations, including schools and early childhood environments, and may work in close proximity to staff, families, and children. Noise levels typically range from moderate to loud and may at times be chaotic due to the nature of environments serving children ages 0-5.

    The work environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, extreme temperatures, and other environmental conditions requiring adherence to established safety precautions. The employee may occasionally work around moving mechanical parts, operate tools and equipment, work at heights, and perform duties outdoors during inclement weather, heat, humidity, and other adverse conditions.

    The employee must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel between agency locations as required to perform job duties. Occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency-response work may be required to address facility needs and operational requirements.
