Thurston County Central Services is recruiting for a Facilities Technician I to join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative Facilities Services team. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of skilled tasks related to the maintenance of county buildings and equipment. Areas of responsibility may include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), generators, carpentry, building component systems, locksmithing, and other related work in the maintenance and repair of commercial buildings.

Essential Personnel: This position is considered an essential worker and may be required to work during non-business hours or closures in order to meet operational requirements and needs, such as coming in early and working on snow days, or staying at work during power outages.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in different locations around the county and can include high-security areas such as detention facilities and on building rooftops.
Routinely use a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, ladders, and work in confined areas.
Regularly lift 75 pounds and are required to bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and reach above the shoulders in the performance of duties.
Long periods of standing may be necessary, and work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and temperatures.
Position is exposed to noisy machinery and alarms, dust, liquid, epoxy chemicals, smoke, noxious odors, fumes, and solvents.
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:00a.m. - 5:00p.m., with an hour lunch break.
Travel Requirements: Daily driving to county properties and various vendor locations.
Customer Interaction: Daily interactions via phone or in-person with Thurston County staff and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED. Completion of vocational training program(s) in a building maintenance field is preferred.
Two years of experience performing a wide variety of tasks in building maintenance operations.
Current Washington State Driver''s License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.
Must pass background security check.
