Overview:
The Facilities Technician II will maintain effective operations of all UWCU owned buildings. This includes but is not limited to preventive maintenance, repairs, building system operation, lighting replacement, grounds maintenance and recommendations for continuous improvement to current maintenance systems and procedures. Accountable to maintain a safe and comfortable working environment for all UW Credit Union staff and membership in all owned and leased locations as directed by the Facilities Director or Building and Ground Manager.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Facilities
- Conduct building and grounds inspections to ensure all areas are clean, safe and fully operational.
- Monitor that building systems (HVAC, Lighting, Surveillance, etc.) are fully operational. Take corrective action on or report irregularities to Facilities Technician III.
- Complete preventive maintenance and repairs to building structure, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Assist Facility Technician III and vendors with major system repairs and upgrades.
- Assist with regularly scheduled testing of building mechanical systems and alarms to ensure system reliability and safety for building occupants.
- Repair or clean-up building interiors including walls, floors, carpet, ceiling, furniture and millwork. Work may include painting, staining and use of adhesives.
- Repair or clean-up building exteriors including envelope, drives, parking lots, sidewalks, signage, drive-up islands, curbs, etc.
- Oversee and manage the overall care and maintenance of lawns, planting beds and trees, including general landscaping. Ensure that lawn irrigation is operating as designed and maintain regular contact with lawncare service provider to ensure that work meets UWCU’s specifications and expectations.
- Maintain and operate snow blower and shovel snow on sidewalks and entrances and salt and/or sand sidewalks as needed. Maintain a supply of salt at all properties for staff use.
- Monitor snow removal service providers to ensure that parking lots and sidewalks are consistently cleared in accordance to contract specifications/requirements.
- Coordinate and perform workstation and office moves/changes as requested through the Facilities department.
- Investigate and troubleshoot financial equipment, make necessary repairs or call for service as needed.
- Troubleshoot, adjust or repair building lock sets and door hardware.
- Be actively involved in new facility openings as requested by the Building and Grounds Manager.
- Assist designated credit union employees with the loading and unloading of pickup and delivery trucks. May include making deliveries to branches and vendors.
- Perform external seminar and trade shows set-up and take down per direction of requesting departments.
- Provide on-site emergency network support when IT staff are unavailable.
- Support the IT department with staff moves in all locations as requested.
- Prepare for AV technology installation with cable preparation and mounting hardware installation.
- Be an on-site liaison with local municipalities such as elevator, fire, building inspectors, etc.
- Perform a branch inspection task-list during site visits
Administrative Duties
- Manage building supplies inventory.
- Support the furniture inventory management, ordering furniture as directed by the Facilities department.
- Prepare and manage work orders for closeout and reporting, utilizing a work order management system.
- Ensure that the quality of performance by service providers as managed established by the Buildings & Grounds Manager is in compliance with the contracts, report issues as needed.
- Provide input for the annual operations budget, gather cost estimates and scope for inclusion during the budget planning period.
- Respond to calls and emails directed to the Facilities department promptly during regular business hours.
- Assist other departments when specialty knowledge, tools or equipment is required.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Facilities department management.
Security Systems Support
- Evaluate and repair secure banking equipment such as pneumatic tubes, deal drawers, surveillance equipment, duress buttons and access controls.
- Assist with branch safe deposit rekey or rotation.
- Participate in the scheduled on-call rotation. Provide after-hours support for security alarms and/or facilities emergencies and outages, offering remote or in-person assistance as needed.
- Coordinate with monitoring services, law enforcement, and fire departments.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma is required.
- 4 – 5 years of maintenance or applicable construction trade experience is required.
Skills
- Ability to use a computer and mobile phone and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Teams, work order management systems, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings and details, specifications and submittals
- Working knowledge of trades related to HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry and landscaping.
- Ability to research new technologies related to sustainable building operations (energy savings, waste reduction, etc.).
- Ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate with others and coordinate assignments.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to climb a ladder and building structures with no height restrictions.
- Ability to be on call.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements established by law. Current documentation must be provided and kept on file with Total Rewards.
- Ability to travel to and work at various locations within the credit union network, as needed.
