Manufacturing Functional Technician III

Westborough, MA

$27.20/hour

1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 6:15 AM - 2:45 PM

Job Overview

We're seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Functional Technician III to support manufacturing operations through assembly, troubleshooting, testing, inspections, and continuous improvement activities. This role works closely with engineering and production teams to ensure products are built to quality standards while supporting process improvements and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot manufacturing products and assist with root cause analysis and debugging activities.
• Perform hardware inspections and document findings to ensure quality standards are met.
• Assemble first-article builds, test fixtures, racks, wiring, and related manufacturing equipment.
• Support mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering teams by providing feedback on tooling, test setups, and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Follow established manufacturing processes and escalate issues when needed.
• Meet productivity, quality, and safety goals in a structured manufacturing environment.
• Participate in process improvement projects, including 6S, quality improvements, and defect reduction initiatives.
• Assist with training and onboarding team members as needed.
• Maintain proper use and security of company tools, equipment, and assets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting equipment, installations, or manufacturing-related issues.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Ability to read and follow English-language instructions and technical documentation.
• Understanding of manufacturing quality standards and safety procedures.
• Experience using handheld scanners and following detailed work instructions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (7+ hours per shift).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly or integration.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing test processes.
• Experience working directly with engineering teams.
• Background in process improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S/6S, or defect reduction projects.
• Experience supporting technical or manufacturing process improvements.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• PPE provided includes safety glasses, gloves, and ESD smocks.
• Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and hands-on assembly/troubleshooting activities.

Ideal Background

Candidates with experience as a Manufacturing Technician, Test Technician, Engineering Technician, Production Technician, Electromechanical Technician, or Assembly Technician in electronics, industrial, automation, semiconductor, aerospace, or hardware manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
