The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician III to join the Facilities Management team at the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center. This is an advanced-level facilities maintenance position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving complex mechanical and building systems within a large Class A high-rise facility. The Facilities Technician III works with limited supervision, independently diagnoses complex equipment and system problems, and serves as a technical resource and project leader for other members of the maintenance team. What You''ll Do:

  • Independently perform advanced maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and life-safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex equipment and building-system problems and determine appropriate repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain, repair, replace, and install mechanical equipment, components, and systems in accordance with specifications and safety requirements.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, motors, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), air-handling equipment, hydronic systems, cooling towers, boilers, and associated equipment.
  • Work with DDC/building automation and energy-management systems to diagnose operating problems and improve system performance.
  • Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting involving three-phase systems and equipment up to 480 volts, when properly trained and authorized.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot high-rise plumbing and pumping systems.
  • Assist with maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of fire alarm, sprinkler, and other life-safety systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, control drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and identify developing equipment problems before they result in system failures.
  • Respond to service requests, identify root causes, develop solutions, and communicate repair plans and timelines to customers and other departments.
  • Lead assigned maintenance and repair projects, including planning work, coordinating resources, and helping ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to less-experienced Facilities Technicians.
  • Assist with evaluating equipment, systems, and maintenance processes for potential improvements.
  • Operate specialized maintenance equipment such as forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, pipe threaders, table saws, welding equipment, and other tools when properly trained.
  • Participate in the department''s on-call rotation and respond to building emergencies as required.

The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally participate in team lifts of up to 100 pounds.

Work may occur in mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to noise, electrical equipment, paints, solvents, refrigerants, water-treatment chemicals, and other conditions associated with commercial building maintenance.

The employee may operate forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment after receiving appropriate training and authorization.

This position may participate in an on-call rotation requiring occasional work outside normal business hours.
