Description

Reporting to Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Technician will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines/equipment. The ideal candidate will have prior general knowledge of food manufacturing equipment and can follow both verbal and written instructions.

A Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electromechanical systems and equipment. They play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

· Care and maintain all equipment and production assets in a safe, sanitary, and efficient condition.

· Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, gas, or air required for operations).

· Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.

· Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required.

· Observes/inspects mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

· Safely dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts (LOTO).

· Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

· Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

· Repairs or replaces defective parts.

· Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

· Lubricates and cleans parts.

· Starts devices to test their performance.

· Sets up and operates, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts with proper training and experience.

· Initiate/completes work orders through CMMS for parts and machines.

· Complies with all safety rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

· Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues with electromechanical equipment.

· Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently.

· Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, sensors, switches, and wiring.

Installation and Calibration:

· Install new electromechanical equipment and systems.

· Calibrate equipment to meet specified performance criteria.

· Ensure proper alignment and integration of mechanical and electrical components.

Testing and Evaluation:

· Conduct tests to evaluate the performance and functionality of equipment.

· Use various tools and instruments for measurement and analysis.

· Document test results and make necessary adjustments.

Documentation and reporting:

o Experience using SAP maintenance systems preferred.

· Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.

· Create reports on equipment status, maintenance history, and recommendations for improvements.

· Provide feedback to engineering teams for design enhancements.

Safety Compliance:

· Ensure all equipment and systems meet safety standards and regulations.

· Follow safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.

Collaboration:

· Work closely with engineers, other technicians, and production staff to resolve technical issues.

· Participate in project teams for equipment upgrades and modifications.

Troubleshooting:

· Identify and troubleshoot complex technical problems in electromechanical systems.

· Implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Training and Support:

· Train and mentor junior technicians or operators on equipment operation and basic maintenance tasks.

· Provide technical support to production personnel.

Qualifications:

· Associate degree or vocational training in electromechanical technology, electrical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.

· Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and instruments.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Basic PLC troubleshooting skills is preferred.

· Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.

· Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and drawings.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Adaptability and willingness to learn about new technologies and equipment.

This role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes tree nuts.
