    Facility Technician

    \n

    Position Summary

    \n

    The Facility Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operation of the facility and its building systems. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and general facility support to maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing environment.

    \n

    The Facility Technician works closely with the Facility Coordinator and Facility Manager and may coordinate with outside contractors when specialized work is required.

    Key Responsibilities

    \n

    Facility Maintenance

    \n
    • \n
    • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting throughout the facility.
    • \n
    • Maintain and repair building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
    • \n
    • Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
    • \n
    • Respond to facility work orders and maintenance requests.
    • \n
    • Identify potential equipment and building problems before they become major issues.
    • \n
    • Maintain clean, organized, and safe mechanical and utility areas.
    • \n
    \n

    Building Systems

    \n
    • \n
    • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs involving:
    • \n
    • HVAC systems
    • \n
    • Electrical systems
    • \n
    • Plumbing
    • \n
    • Pumps and motors
    • \n
    • Compressed air systems
    • \n
    • Building controls
    • \n
    • Lighting
    • \n
    • Doors, docks, and overhead doors
    • \n
    • Fire protection systems
    • \n
    • General building systems
    • \n
    • Monitor facility operating conditions and report abnormal conditions.
    • \n
    • Assist outside contractors with specialized mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building-system work.
    • \n
    \n

    Preventive Maintenance

    \n
    • \n
    • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
    • \n
    • Document completed maintenance and repairs.
    • \n
    • Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records.
    • \n
    • Identify recurring problems and recommend corrective actions.
    • \n
    • Assist with development and improvement of preventive maintenance procedures.
    • \n
    \n

    Safety & Compliance

    \n
    • \n
    • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
    • \n
    • Maintain safe working conditions throughout the facility.
    • \n
    • Support required inspections and testing of facility systems.
    • \n
    • Assist with fire protection, emergency systems, and regulatory inspections.
    • \n
    • Follow lockout/tagout and other applicable safety procedures.
    • \n
    • Report unsafe conditions and potential hazards.
    • \n
    \n

    Contractor Support

    \n
    • \n
    • Assist with contractor access and site preparation.
    • \n
    • Provide information and support to contractors performing facility work.
    • \n
    • Monitor contractor activities when assigned.
    • \n
    • Verify that work areas are left clean and safe.
    • \n
    • Report incomplete or deficient contractor work to the Facility Coordinator or Facility Manager.
    • \n
    \n

    Projects

    \n
    • \n
    • Assist with facility improvement and construction projects.
    • \n
    • Perform hands-on work associated with facility projects when appropriate.
    • \n
    • Assist with equipment installation, relocation, and modifications.
    • \n
    • Help coordinate shutdowns and facility access requirements.
    • \n
    \n

    Qualifications

    \n
    • \n
    • 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, industrial maintenance, construction, or a related field.
    • \n
    • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
    • \n
    • Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
    • \n
    • Ability to read basic electrical, mechanical, and construction drawings.
    • \n
    • Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
    • \n
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • \n
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
    • \n
    • Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic work-order systems.
    • \n
    \n

    Preferred Qualifications

    \n
    • \n
    • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
    • \n
    • Electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or building-trade experience.
    • \n
    • Experience with CMMS/work-order systems.
    • \n
    • OSHA or other safety training.
    • \n
    • Technical school, trade certification, or equivalent experience.
    • \n
    • Experience working around industrial utilities and manufacturing equipment.
    • \n
    \n

    Physical Requirements

    \n
    • \n
    • Ability to regularly walk throughout a large manufacturing facility.
    • \n
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and access mechanical rooms, roofs, utility areas, and other facility spaces.
    • \n
    • Ability to lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment.
    • \n
    • Ability to work in confined or elevated areas when required.
    • \n
    • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
    • \n
    • Ability to respond to facility emergencies when required.
    • \n
    \n

    Reports to: Facility Manager

    The Facility Technician is expected to provide reliable, timely, and professional maintenance support; maintain facility systems in good operating condition; complete preventive maintenance as scheduled; respond effectively to facility issues; and maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
